About Thornton Designs

I obtained my Interior Design training at the New York School of Interior Design and have been a continuously practicing professional Interior Designer for twenty-five years. As a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Washington Design Center, I have access to many resources throughout the industry. My design studio is available by appointment and contains wallpaper books, fabrics, furniture catalogs, window treatments, art work, accessories, etc.

I have three children. My oldest daughter Michele and her husband Ba Aye live on Maui, Hawaii. They own a wholesale clothing design and manufacturing company with factories in Bali (To see their clothing line, visit their website at www.rainbowjo.com). My middle child, Brenda, is an attorney with the U. S. Department of Justice in the Crimes and Terrorism unit in Washington, D.C. She has also worked with the United Nations and was stationed in Rwanda, Tanzania, and East Timor. My son is a practicing attorney in Miami Beach and the Washington, DC area. His Primary focus is on Human Rights cases.

My husband, Chris, and I recently moved to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC along with our nine year old Yorkshire Terrier named Pooky and our four year old Shih Tzu named Suki. Before that we lived for 15 years in a 100 year old Victorian home in the Spring Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh Our Pittsburgh house was recently featured in an article in the newspaper.

Chris does custom remodeling and landscaping as well as creates websites including this one.
